Fitting an ASUS GT520 Silent into a Dell Optiplex 755 Desktop Case

A quick one today.
I picked up an Asus nVidia GT520 Silent video card on Friday to replace the aging Leadtek nVidia GT210 that I had in my desktop case. Upon opening the box, I was surprised about the size of the heat sink (ASUS have spared no expense there - it hangs over the edge of the card) and wondered if it would really fit in the cramped environment of the Dell Optiplex desktop case.

As it came from the manufacturer - it doesn't fit. The bottom section of the heat sink at the far end interferes with the CPU cover. However, removing only two small fin sections at the bottom has it running like a champ. I also used some insulating tape on two of the motherboard capacitors, as they seem to come into contact with the heat sink as well.

At the moment the GPU is sitting at 50degC, with the hard disk at 37degC and the four cores of the CPU at 44degC, 45degC, 50degC and 54degC.

Installation of the standard nVidia drivers in Windows 7 worked a charm and bumped the "Windows 7 Experience" ratings up one figure.
